We Think Globally

The Asian-American Commerce Group is a living-proof of Central Ohio's rapid globalization and its Asian businesses. The AACG is recognized by the Governor of Ohio and the Mayors of Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati as one of the best business seminar provider.

About AACG

The Asian-American Commerce Group (AACG) is a non-profit organization registered with the Secretary of the State and is staffed by volunteers. AACG was organized in July 1993 in recognition of the need for better communication among Asian American organizations in Central Ohio as well as the need for effective liaison between ethnic groups and the public sector.  AACG has been providing leadership to many Asian American communities in Central Ohio, and serving as champion for myriad worthy causes in Ohio and beyond.

Our major accomplishments include:

  • Established direct working relationship with key officials of the State of Ohio, Franklin County and City of Columbus to improve communications between the Asian American communities and various government agencies.
  • Helped inclusion of Asian Indians as minorities with the State of Ohio.
  • In conjunction with The USAsians Publication, successfully conducted several seminars in Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Columbus, and produced Asian American Business Directory for Central Ohio which will assist Ohio Department of Development in its effort to effectively reach out to Asian American communities in Central Ohio.
  • Working with City of Columbus Equal Business Opportunity Center (EBOC) and City Council to promote equitable procurement opportunities for all ethnic groups in Central Ohio.
  • Collaborating with the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce and State of Ohio's International Trade Division, AACG has hosted many trade delegates from Asian countries.
  • Lobbied against immigration restriction for legal aliens.
  • Increased political recognition of Asian Americans by organizing various fundraising events and open forums for public officials.
  • Organized the community to voice its objection for exclusion from minority businesses by Columbus City Council. In an effort to remedy this injustice, AACG collected evidence of discriminations and will address this issue continously.
  • Assisted in forming of the Asian-American Community Service Council (ACSC) and participated in the Asian Festival in 1995, 1996. Some of our trustees are alsao serving  on ACSC Board of Trustees.
  • Conducted several seminars on minority status of Asian Americans throughout City of Columbus and State of Ohio.
  • Successfully conducted the seminar titled, "Doing Business with Emerging Asian Markets" on May 24, 1996 featuring representatives from Embasssies and Consulate General of Cambodia, China, India, Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand made presentation to Ohio's businesses.
